A shield, drawn by hand
Alya takes the organic shield outline and lets it flow along its own perimeter, following the undulating contours of natural stone rather than a drawn arc.
The frame is beaten from solid brass by maalems in Marrakech with no mechanical stamp anywhere in the process, which is why no two perimeters come out the same.
It reads as an object first
A hand-beaten brass outline against plain plaster is enough of a scheme on its own. That is why Alya ends up over consoles and in dressing rooms as often as it does above a basin.
Natural stone console
Warm metal against cool stone. The wider formats suit a console better than a vanity.
Powder room vanity
One mirror, one wall, nothing else. The compact sizes are built for this.
Dressing suite
The taller formats give height without taking more wall width.
Limestone plaster walls
Flush mounting keeps the frame tight to the wall, so the silhouette stays the focus.
What owners say
Designer quality
Our interior designer recommended Mosalica and we are thrilled. Heavy solid brass, easy to hang with the included hardware.

Arrived in an extraordinarily secure wooden crate. No distortion in the glass whatsoever. The unlacquered brass finish is already taking on a gorgeous subtle warm tone.

Which Alya fits your wall?
Proportion sheet / 9 sizesWidth is the decision. Above a vanity or console, a mirror looks right at roughly 60 to 75 percent of the width of the piece below it. Narrower reads as undersized, wider crowds the wall.
On an open wall there is nothing to match, so choose on height instead and keep the centre of the glass near eye level. Between two sizes, the larger one is usually the one people keep.
Heights marked "same width, more height" are the formats to look at when the wall is tall but narrow.
| Size, H x W | Suits a console or vanity |
|---|---|
| 23.6 x 15.7 inch | About 21 to 26 inch wide |
| 26 x 17 inch | About 23 to 28 inch wide |
| 27.5 x 19 inch | About 25 to 32 inch wide |
| 31.5 x 20 inch | About 27 to 33 inch wide |
| 35 x 20 inch | Same width, more height |
| 26 x 22 inch | About 29 to 37 inch wide, wider than tall |
| 36 x 25 inch | About 33 to 42 inch wide |
| 40 x 25 inch | Same width, more height |
| 40 x 30 inch | About 40 to 50 inch wide, statement wall |
Not sure between two sizes? Send the width of your console or vanity and the ceiling height. We will tell you which one to order.

An Alya frame is not cast or pressed. Sheet brass is beaten over a form by a maalem until the shield takes its curve, which is slow and is the reason the outline is never twice the same.
Beaten
Sheet brass is worked over a form until the shield outline takes its curve.
Left bare
The surface is finished by hand and left unlacquered, so the brass can age.
Assembled
Bevelled glass, moisture-resistant backing and D-rings are fitted as one unit.
Inspected
Bevel, fixings and finish are checked, then the piece is crated.
Four parts, and why each one matters
Solid brass frame
Hand-beaten and unlacquered. Solid through, so it can be re-polished rather than touched up.
Precision bevelled glass
A cut edge that catches light along the perimeter and gives the reflection a defined border.
Moisture-resistant backing
Wooden backing wrapped in protective black fabric, which keeps bathroom humidity off the silvering.
Reinforced D-rings
Pre-installed for flush mounting, so the load sits on the fixings and not on the brass.
Look closer. The character is in the metal.
Three details worth zooming into, because they are what separate a beaten brass frame from a plated one.
The surface
Worked by hand and left bare, so the tool marks stay visible instead of disappearing under lacquer.
The outline
A shield that flows rather than repeats. The perimeter is drawn by the hand that beat it.
The bevel
A precision cut around the glass edge that picks up light and frames the reflection.
Unlacquered brass is a choice, not a problem
Left alone the surface deepens into a warm patina. Polished, it stays bright. Both are correct, so the only decision is which one you want to live with.
Dust dry, clean the glass off the frame
Spray the cloth rather than the mirror, so nothing runs down into the bevel and the backing.
Nothing abrasive, nothing ammonia-based
Scouring pads and glass sprays containing ammonia will mark bare brass and leave it patchy.
Decide about the patina
Leave it and the tone darkens year by year. Prefer it bright? A brass polish two or three times a year holds it.
The questions people actually ask
Size and hanging first, delivery second.
Which size should I choose?
Measure the console or vanity, not the wall, then aim for a mirror 60 to 75 percent of that width. A 30 inch console suits a mirror around 20 inch wide, a 36 inch vanity suits around 25 inch.
On an open wall there is nothing to match, so choose on height and keep the centre near eye level. Send us your measurements and we will pick.
How much does it weigh, and what wall can it hang on?
Solid brass with a wooden backing is heavy, and in the larger formats the fixing matters more than the hook. The D-rings are reinforced and pre-installed, so the question is what they are fixed into. On plasterboard, fix into a stud or use anchors rated above the mirror's weight. On masonry or tile, use plugs suited to the substrate.
Tell us which size you are considering and we will confirm the weight and the right fixings before you order.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Yes. The D-rings are already fitted to the backing and the mirror mounts flush to the wall. There is no frame assembly.
Will it survive a humid bathroom?
Yes. The backing is moisture-resistant and fabric-wrapped, which protects the silvering at the glass edge, the usual place a bathroom mirror fails.
Unlacquered brass is unaffected by humidity, but steam will speed up the darkening. If you want the finish to stay bright, a powder room or dressing area suits it better than a wet room.
Will the brass change colour?
It will, and that is what unlacquered means. The tone deepens gradually, faster in steam than on a dry hallway wall, and unevenly where hands touch it.
If you want it to stay as it arrived, polish it two or three times a year. If you want the patina, do nothing at all.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
Each mirror ships crated with insured freight. If the crate arrives visibly damaged, photograph it before unpacking further and contact us straight away. Transit damage is covered and we replace or refund at no cost to you, including return shipping.
How long does delivery take, and do I get tracking?
Standard insured delivery is free, with orders typically arriving within 10 to 14 days. Shipment confirmation and tracking follow once the carrier collects the crate. Tracking can take 24 to 72 hours to begin updating.
Are customs duties and import taxes included?
Yes, for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union. Orders ship DDP, meaning duties, import tariffs and local clearance fees are prepaid. The price at checkout is the price you pay.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery. For a change-of-mind return we refund to your original payment method, less the applicable return costs, since the mirror has to come back crated and insured.
If it is damaged, defective or not what you ordered, the return costs nothing. Full conditions are in our Refund & Returns policy.
